Over the past couple of weeks our students have taken the Atlas Interim Assessments. Today, the top student from each class that showed the highest growth in reading since completing the first assessment in the fall were rewarded with a book from our book vending machine! The South Conway County School District (SCCSD) is excited to announce that all PreK-12 schools will dismiss at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025, to allow students, families, staff, and the community to support the Morrilton Devil Dogs Boys' Basketball Team as they compete in the 4A State Championship Game in Hot Springs.
This is a historic moment for our school and community, and we want to ensure that everyone has the chance to be part of this incredible experience.
“We are proud of our student-athletes and the hard work they have put in to reach this moment,” said Superintendent Shawn Halbrook. “This is a special opportunity for our entire community to come together and show our support for the Devil Dogs.”
The 4A State Championship Game will take place at Bank OZK Arena in Hot Springs. Fans are encouraged to travel and cheer on the Devil Dogs as they fight for the state title.
We appreciate our families' and staff's support and flexibility as we celebrate this exciting achievement.

The South Conway County School District proudly announces that Morrilton Junior High School has been recognized by the Office for Education Policy (OEP) at the University of Arkansas as a "Beating the Odds" high-performing school. This prestigious recognition is awarded to schools where students have demonstrated high academic growth on the ATLAS assessment, despite serving a high percentage of students participating in Free and Reduced Lunch.
In addition to this honor, Morrilton Junior High School ranked:
🏆 5th overall for "High Poverty" Middle Schools in ATLAS Growth in the entire State of Arkansas
🏆 10th overall for "High Poverty" Middle Schools in ATLAS Math Growth in the entire State of Arkansas
🏆 5th overall for "High Poverty" Middle Schools in ATLAS ELA (English Language Arts) Growth in the entire State of Arkansas
Each year, the OEP releases its Outstanding Educational Performance Awards, highlighting schools across the state that significantly impact student learning.
