Today is IT Professionals Day. Thank you to these guys for all that they do for us across SCCSD with all things technology. We appreciate you! #LoveServeCare4People

Dear SCCSD Families, Staff, Students, and Community Members:
In light of recent incidents of school violence across the country, it is not uncommon for rumors of threats to emerge and spread quickly across school campuses. South Conway County School District, in collaboration with the Morrilton Police Department, has thoroughly investigated reports of potential threats against our schools that began as rumors. None of these threats have been found to be credible.
We ask for your support in stopping the spread of these rumors by reporting them directly to us, rather than sharing them.
How do the rumors start?
Many recent rumors have started on social media, often from the circulation of a message or screenshot suggesting possible violence at a school. These messages are typically vague, lacking specific details like the name of the school. In some cases, they include partial school names or initials that could refer to numerous schools across the country. Unfortunately, when these messages are shared locally, they can quickly be misinterpreted as threats to schools within our district.
How can I help stop a rumor?
The most effective way to stop a rumor is to report it immediately.
Forwarding or sharing unverified information online only heightens the intended fear these rumors create within our school community and disrupts our safe learning environment. If you come across anything concerning, report it to law enforcement right away.
Parents and guardians, we encourage you to speak with your students about the importance of reporting any threatening messages or posts they come across. If your student sees something concerning online, they should report it to their school staff or school resource officer—not forward or repost it. When you report a potential threat directly to us, we can trace its origin, assess its credibility, and take appropriate action. Our goal is always to determine if the threat is real.
Both the South Conway County School District and the Morrilton Police Department are committed to ensuring the safety of all students and staff. We will continue to keep our school community informed as we investigate any reports. Thank you for helping us keep our schools safe.
